Meet the Doctor
Dr. Hu has been practicing dentistry for nearly two decades. As a pediatric dentist, she shares her passion provide the best care for children from their infancy through their high school years. She also specializes in children with developmental challenges such as ADHD, autism, Down's Syndrome, and sensory processing disorders.
Dr. Hu understands that children can be nervous when it comes to visiting the dentist. She uses the "Tell-Show-Do” technique to explain things in a fun way. By approaching children with patience, understanding, and empathy, she helps provide a positive experience that gives them something to look forward to.
Most importantly, Dr. Hu strives to make sure that she, her staff, our patients, and their parents are all on the same page. We all work together to achieve optimal oral health as each child is unique. Our individualized approach to care planning reflects as such.
Education and Training
Born in Pakistan, Dr. Hu started her dental education in 1999. She then immigrated to the USA to continue her training where she received her Doctorate from Nova Southeastern University. After deciding to specialize in pediatric dentistry, she enrolled at the Lutheran Medical Center's Department of Advanced Education and General Dentistry in Brooklyn, NY. She received her pediatric dentistry degree at New Jersey's St. Joseph's Regional Medical Center in 2012. Throughout her studies, she held a specific interest in treatment options for children with special needs and craniofacial disorders.
As a Clinical Professor at Columbia Medical Center and Lutheran Medical Center, Dr. Hu also supervised residents during their dental training. In addition to being a solo practitioner, she has worked to preventative and comprehensive care for elementary school children at New York City’s School-Based Dental Clinic.
Certifications and Memberships
Some of Dr. Hu’s certifications include Pediatric Acute Life Support (PALS) and Basic Life Support (BLS/CPR). In 2016, she achieved her board certification as a pediatric dentist. She is an active member of the American Dental Association, American Board of Pediatric Dentists, Diplomat of Pediatric Dentistry, the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry, and the California Society of Pediatric Dentistry.
Outside of the Office
When she isn’t busy caring for children’s smiles, Dr. Hu loves to read, cycle, dragon boat race, and hike. She’s also fluent in English, Chinese, and Hindi.
